Financial Advisor – Retirement Income Certified Planner
I am a financial advisor and founder of GM Financial Advocate LLC, located in Princeton, New Jersey. I provide clients with a road map to their financial future suggesting strategies and products to meet their current and future needs. My particular focus is on preparing clients for retirement. My business is primarily based on assets under management, but I also provide hourly, as needed, fee-only financial planning advice and comprehensive financial plans.
I am a fully qualified General Securities Representative (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7 and Series 66) and fully licensed to sell life and long-term care insurance in several states. I am affiliated with Nationwide Planning Associates (no relation to Nationwide Insurance!) which is an independent, unaffiliated, broker/dealer that supports, guides, and equips financial advisors with the best resources available to fulfill financial planning needs and goals of their clients. I am also a Retirement Income Certified Professional®. The RICP® is an advanced designation in retirement income planning that focuses on the transition from capital assets to retirement.
I earned my MBA, with a specialization in finance, at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. I then spent 17 years on Wall Street as an investment banker, working with large institutional clients advising treasurers and fund managers in their fixed-income investments. I held positions at the British investment bank Barclays Capital, the Dutch bank ABN AMRO, the Australian New Zealand Bank specializing in Emerging Markets (now Ashmore Group) and Bankers’ Trust (now JP Morgan).
With that solid financial foundation, I became a financial advisor in 2013. In addition to maintaining my FINRA qualifications, I became a Retirement Income Certified Professional®. My years of experience on Wall Street, the specialized course of study and RICP certification allow me to provide solid, valuable and individualized financial advice to my clients.
I believe it is important to spend time understanding a client’s specific goals before investing their assets. Getting to know my clients, one on one, allows me to fully understand their goals and needs, and to offer tailored savings strategies and investment solutions. These are reviewed and adjusted over time as goals are achieved.
My husband and I have two children and live in Princeton, New Jersey where we are very active in the community and in the school and sports lives of our children. I have served as a volunteer in many local activities and school roles and founded a disaster relief effort for the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Chile, the country where I was raised. Formerly a competitive tri-athlete, I have completed 3 Ironman Triathlons including Ironman Hawaii. I earned my undergraduate degree in economics and political science from Boston College.
